Prehistoric Farm: Complete Fossil Sets for the DNA Lab
Track creature-specific fossil counts in Prehistoric Farm, finish Cambrian sets, and check what changes after DNA Lab extraction.
A complete fossil set in Prehistoric Farm contains the pieces needed for one creature. Cambrian creatures each need five fossils for an egg. Count the selected creature's pieces rather than combining fossils from different species into a total of five.
This gameplay video reaches a ready Hallucigenia set and returns to the fossil station. It shows the difference between gathering more inventory and having a specific creature ready for extraction.
Check the selected creature before returning home
Use the collection menu to identify the creature you want to extract. Cambrian has six creature entries. Those entries describe separate sets; the six-entry collection count is not the number of fossils consumed by one egg.
A useful trip checkpoint is whether that creature's displayed count has reached its requirement. Coins and Buried Treasure from digs do not add fossil pieces. Other creatures' fossils may advance their own sets while leaving your chosen set incomplete.
Use the creature's actual requirement
The documented general rule is three fossils for a creature on a big island and five on a small island. Cambrian's five-piece requirement is explicit, but the classification of every island is not. Do not apply a guessed island size to a creature when its own requirement can be checked.
Inventory can exceed the required count: examples include Trilobite 9/5 and Wiwaxia 7/5. That surplus does not establish how many eggs can be extracted or whether extra pieces remain afterward.
Recheck after using Get Egg
Bring the completed set to Dr. Ivy's DNA Lab on Home Island and use Get Egg. Inspect the inventory after the exchange before planning another egg or selling what you consider spare. No general extraction coin price is established here.
Use the DNA Lab guide for the exchange relationship, or fossils for the collection groups. If your count is below the requirement, continue the appropriate digging activity rather than treating the lab as a source of missing pieces.
