Prehistoric Farm: Use Incubator Slots and Expand Capacity

Last updated 2026-10-06Unofficial player article

Arrange Prehistoric Farm eggs around unlocked incubator slots, assess the documented capacity upgrades, and avoid confusing slots with timer speed.

Use an unlocked incubator slot in Prehistoric Farm for an egg you already have. Two slots start unlocked, and the room supports up to six. The practical question is whether an available slot can accept your next egg, not whether every slot must be purchased before hatching begins.

This gameplay session starts an incubation and uses the waiting period for another activity. It shows a scheduling choice without establishing a speed bonus for leaving the incubator.

Start the eggs that fit your available capacity

Place an acquired egg in an unlocked incubator. Check which slots are occupied before obtaining or planning several more eggs. A completed fossil set becomes an egg at Dr. Ivy; the incubator handles the next stage, so keep those two inventories and tasks distinct.

When all available slots are occupied, you can wait for a running hatch or consider an expansion. That is a capacity decision. Repeatedly acquiring eggs will not create a free slot by itself.

Evaluate the documented slot purchases

The listed third slot costs 30,000 coins. The fourth costs 50,000 coins and requires the third. Prices and requirements for the fifth and sixth slots are not established here. Check the actual offer before planning the later expansion.

My recommendation is to expand when a real egg queue is using the two starting slots. Keeping coins for care or the tool your next fossil period needs may be more useful than buying unused capacity.

Reassign attention after a hatch

Follow the displayed egg timer rather than treating added capacity as faster incubation. After the creature hatches, check the room's available capacity for the next egg and care for the new creature on the ranch. Growth requires Belly above half full.

Use the incubator guide for the approximate rarity timers, or hatching eggs for the placement sequence. If the slot is empty because you have no egg, the appropriate next task is getting an egg.
