Prehistoric Farm Incubator Guide: Slots and Hatch Timers
Compare Prehistoric Farm incubator capacity and rarity-based hatch timers, and distinguish slot purchases from the hatch cutscene.
Prehistoric Farm's incubator room supports six slots, with two unlocked at the start. Capacity determines how many eggs you can place in available slots; incubation time is a separate property of the egg. Do not assume buying a slot shortens a running timer.
The gameplay video includes a Rare Hallucigenia egg with a five-minute timer and a later Tiktaalik egg. These examples show why the quick tutorial demonstration is not a universal timer.
Compare the documented hatch timers
Approximate incubation times are one minute for Common, two minutes thirty seconds for Uncommon, five minutes for Rare, ten minutes for Epic and twenty minutes for Legendary. Follow the actual egg timer if your session differs.
| Rarity | Incubation |
|---|---|
| Common | About 1 minute |
| Uncommon | About 2 minutes 30 seconds |
| Rare | 5 minutes |
| Epic | 10 minutes |
| Legendary | 20 minutes |
Expand capacity only for a real egg queue
Slot three is listed at 30,000 coins. Slot four is listed at 50,000 coins and requires slot three. Requirements for slots five and six are not established here, so do not budget a complete six-slot expansion from guessed prices.
Consider an expansion when your available slots are actually occupied and you have another egg to place. Two starting slots already support the opening hatch task. A capacity purchase does not resolve an incomplete fossil collection.
Keep incubation and the hatch scene separate
The Skip Hatching offer is described as skipping the hatch cutscene, not the egg's incubation timer. That distinction matters when choosing what kind of waiting you want to reduce. Check the current offer before assuming it accelerates every egg.
Use hatching eggs for placement and results. Use incubator slot management when deciding whether another egg can start. After a hatch, care moves to the ranch and the Belly growth rule rather than remaining an incubator task.
